BIA/NITCAR Audit Grant

The BIA and NITCAR are pleased to invite applications for Grant Awards of up to £10,000 to support high-quality clinical audit projects/service evaluations and subsequent quality improvement work.

This scheme aims to promote excellence in quality improvement, improve patient care, and support clinician development.

• Application opens: 1st October 2026

• Closing date: 31st January 2027

Purpose of the Award

The NITCAR Grant is designed to:

• Support audits, service evaluations and multi-centre observational studies
• Quality improvement projects
• National level surveys
• Foster future research and service development
• Support early-career clinicians undertaking a major project

Funding Available:

• Up to £10,000 total
• Funding duration: up to 12 months
• Multiple awards may be made, subject to quality and available funds
• Funds may be used for:
  • Data collection and management support
  • Statistical support
  • Administrative support
  • Multi-site coordination
  • Dissemination (e.g. conference presentation, publication fees)
  • Salary support for the lead applicant
  • Subsequent quality improvement work (e.g. guideline writing)
• Funds may not be used for:
  • Purchases unrelated to the audit
  • Activities outside the scope of the approved proposal

Eligibility – Applicants must:

• Be a clinician(s) or healthcare professional(s) working within the UK
• Be a member of the BIA
• Be the named lead applicant
• Confirm necessary governance approvals will be obtained
